Dear beautiful hearts, There are moments in life when silence weighs heavier than words. When the sky feels closed. When the heart calls and hears no reply. But silence is not absence. And delay is not rejection. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once lived through such silence. It is known as Fatrat al Wahy, The Pause of Revelation. After receiving the first divine words, the connection between heaven and earth seemed to stop. No angel descended. No verses came. No reassurance echoed. Only a deep stillness. But even in that stillness, He ﷺ remained, waiting, worshipping, unwavering. Why? Because he knew what every heart must one day realize: Allah is As Samad, The One who needs nothing, And the One whom every soul needs. He gives when He wills. He withholds with wisdom. He delays, not because He forgets, but because He knows. He is never absent. But sometimes, He is silent… to see: Will you still love Me when I withhold? Will you still trust Me when I delay? Will you still knock when the door doesn’t open right away? The Prophet ﷺ did. He stood. He waited. He longed, without bitterness, without complaint. Until, one day, the silence broke: “O you who wraps himself [in garments], Arise, and warn.” (Surah Al Muddathir 74:1–2) The revelation returned. But the real lesson had already unfolded. Because even in the silence, Allah was listening. Even in the pause, He was near. Even in the quiet, He was elevating His beloved. This is the essence of knowing As Samad: To worship Him not for what you hear, but for who He is.

To trust Him, not just in replies, but in the waiting. To remain at His door, even when no answer comes, because you know: He is still there.

So if you ever find yourself in a pause…
If your prayers feel unanswered…
If your soul feels like it’s standing in a quiet space…

Remember the Fatrat al-Wahy. And say what the Prophet’s heart surely whispered: “Ya Allah, you are As-Samad. You may not need me…
But I will never stop needing You.” That is not weakness. That is devotion. That is sabr. That is faith blooming in the silence.

With warmth and duas,
Kanwal Saif
